I had to buy reading glasses today!

Some of you will remember Carrie’s distress at feeling as if she’s “Growing Old!” when her eyes start to fail. She can hardly read the Vogue magazine Miranda hold in her face. And, without Big’s glasses she’s quite literally lost without him.
Well, today it was my turn. I had to buy my first pair of reading glasses. Truth be told, I probably should have bought them 2 years ago–but, I kept getting my contact lenses prescription changed rather than submit to wearing reading glasses. But, today there was no denying it.
I mean after investing what I did to get an e-reader a $15 pair of glasses seems a small price to pay to be able to use said reader
So, why such a difficult purchase? As usual I can relate to Carrie! As Vogue editor Enid spouts, “Bride yes, After 40 No!” But, I was the one. 2-years after my “scary” age of 40–a reference to the episode Miranda doesn’t get an abortion–I was the bride. For the first time. Except for becoming a step-mother I was almost able to fool myself into believing I wasn’t almost 20 years (OK at least 10 years) delayed in the lifecycle ritual which most take as the official onset of adulthood. And, now barely 8 weeks following the party of my lifetime I am out trying on reading glasses!
What is wrong with this picture? I’d tell you, but, I’d have to put on my glasses to see it clearly!
Stay tuned for more adventures in newly wed life, brand new step-mothering and how being married changes relationships we never thought would change. (Not to mention, dating stories of the past!)
